Objectives:
  • Student will engage with dramatic play materials
  • Student will participate in cooperative play with other students
CDA Competency Standard:  
II.7.3a
  • Activities and materials encourage children to develop their imaginations
a) Dramatic play materials and activities are available for children daily
Materials: 
  • tissue paper
  • fabric flowers
  • cut string or yarn
  • play money
  • paper
  • clipboard
  • markers/colored pencils/crayons
Procedure: 
  1. Have a group discussion on flower shops to see what students already know about them.
  2. If needed, give students more information about flower shops
  3. Review the guidelines for playing in the dramatic play area with students
  4. Prepare the dramatic play center by displaying the new materials
  5. Invite the students to play in flower shop

Assessment: 
  • Observe and record the students as they engage in play. What materials did they use? How are their fine motor skills developing? Record any dialog or conversations they had with other students as well.
